the new cool

the vision

i have been umming and urring for a number of days over a big consumer decision... some of my lovely relatives gave me some money for my birthday and (as im not the kind of guy to use it to pay my credit card bill off with) it seems only fitting that i should buy something new and shiny...

so i've been a little torn between getting a funky little sat nav (so i dont get lost everywhere i go) and a nice big widescreen lcd for my computer (the rest of which is highly pimped except the screen which is sadly stuck at 15". sat nav won at first but a few people put me off and i have one i could borrow from work occasionally anyway... i looked for a monitor and found an okish one that was cheap enough... but i put off buying it for a day.

then its price went up a little and it became out of stock... and i also started to think maybe i should save the money... then i had a journey where i was a bit confused as to where i was going and (combined with a couple of people's recommendations) sat nav took the lead again ... blimey huh?

well anyway, just yesterday I found a really fit LG monitor (i had looked at their site straight away but the official website denies the knowledge of a widescreen model) which is 20.1" big and just fit fit fit... and today I have it on my desk at work... tonight it shall be lighting up my bedroom :-)

now i just need to get a DVD with fireworks on it to inaugerate the display... mmm yum!

that cat's out the bag...

chip and pin? chip and spin more like... in an unprecedented security leak every single Natwest PIN number has leaked onto the internet... its more than a little worrying so I guess I'll have to keep extra good care of my card now... cos yeah, I checked and mine was there...

to go boldly...

ahh yes, how exciting... here's the teaser poster for the next Star Trek movie (number 11) coming out in 2008... not a lot is known about it but its being made by J.J. Abrahms the man behind Lost and Alias and stuff so there's some hope it will be good... it'll be using completely new characters and a new setting from any of the TV shows, the picture might suggest a slightly retro look, but then again, it might not...

there's simply something there that wasn't there before...

yes i've been champing at the bit and bursting at the seems to shout from the rooftops about the new and exciting mullerice packaging that's rolling out across the country as we speak... and the fact that every single delicious pot is now less than 3% fat (where as before the big, non-multipack ones were only less than 5%) and despite this fact not half as watery as the old mini pots... and then they launched the 'original' flavour in big pots... well i was delighted... so keen had i been in the past to try one of these holy pots that id bought them in a 6 pack, half full of dirrrty strwaberry flavour.

today is something else... something special... something beautiful... not only are the holy rices on buy 3 get 3 free in Morissons but... oh yes... there are TWO COMPLETELY NEW FLAVOURS!!!

yes, I proudly give you BLACKCURRANT & BLUEBERRY mmm, I've had one of the black ones and it was pretty nice... and will have a blue one for lunch. Dissappointingly there was no sign of the Raisin & Nutmeg flavour (which Morisons normally serves me with) nor the popular Apple Strudel variant... so its hard to know if they've been pulled or not... tragically the Muller Website simply hasn't been updated with any of these revelations!

S19

i first noticed this aaages ago and have vaguely meant to blog about it since, but ive never been sure that im right... well after a quick google i can indeed confirm my suspicions that:

The New Town of Cambourne has a 19mph speed limit

Apparently it draws ur attention to the signs and makes you slow down, apparently its also not legally enforceable... eitherway, perhaps i'll take a photo one day, or you could visit it yourself, it's 15 mins west of Cambridge and it does have a Morisons.
